Making a difference at Fairington Elementary
Fairington Elementary works with The Clean Air Campaign with support from Katie, the school’s health care provider. Katie urged Fairington to become involved with the Better Air Schools program because she sees so many children with asthma. With her support, students learned about air quality through hands-on science experiments drawn from
The Clean Air Campaign’s state-approved lesson plans.
To help students further make the connection between the lessons they learned and the actions they could take to make a difference, the school’s staff made daily announcements, posted materials on bulletin boards and held Walking School Buses, with an average of 80 students walking to school each of the days the event was held.
